What do the computer evaluations mean (like +2.25)?
Solution

Sometimes on Chess.com you might encounter computer evaluation numbers which are used by a chess engine or chess computer to evaluate a specific chess position. When you see a number like +2.25 given it means that white is winning by 2.25 points. The points can be related to the material count (Pawns=1, Knights/Bishops=3, Rooks=5 , Queen=9) so the +2.25 evaluation you could think of it as white is winning by 2.25 pawns. Now if you see an evaulation of -3.00 then you could think of that as black is winning by a piece (meaning Knight or Bishop) or by 3 pawns. When you see a + evaluation it means that white is the better side and when you see a - evaluation if means that black is the better side.
