We're sorry you are having issues with the app.
In most cases, restarting the app after shutting it down entirely - i.e. from the multitasking bar that appears when you quickly depress the device's start-button twice - should get you back up and running.
Also, to make the app better, we would GREATLY appreciate it if you could send us a crash report... Here's how!
Step 1: Sync your device with your computer.
Step 2: Find your crash log here:
- If Mac OS X : ~/Library/Logs/CrashReporter/MobileDevice/ (Note: Apple has made it a bit more challenging to find the reports in OSX Lion and up; please see this article for advice on how to make the relevant folder visible.)
- If Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\\Application Data\Applecomputer\Logs\CrashReporter\
- If Windows Vista: C:\Users\\AppData\Roaming\Applecomputer\Logs\CrashReporter/MobileDevice\
Your crash report will look like this: Chess_2009-10-29-071531_Phone_Name.crash
Step 3: Email your crash report to: email@example.com
In your e-mail, please include your chess.com username, and let us know what you were doing (or trying to do) when the app crashed.
Also, please let us know what device you have, and (if you know it) your firmware version number.
