Why am I temporarily restricted from playing Live Chess?

Learn why you may see an 'Online play restricted' message, what triggers this temporary restriction, and how long it lasts.

Live Chess play restriction

If you see the message 'Online play restricted due to a violation of our Community Policy' when trying to start a game, this means that a temporary play restriction has been applied to your account.

This restriction is applied automatically when our system detects a pattern of very early resignations, such as resigning multiple games in a row before meaningful play has occurred. This behavior negatively impacts other players who are waiting for a fair game.

The restriction will expire automatically, and you do not need to contact our Support Team to have it removed. Please check the toaster notification at the bottom right of your screen to know when your restriction will be lifted.
