Advanced Stats on Chess.com

Diamond members now have exclusive access to a more powerful way to track their progress and better understand their game: Advanced Stats!

Advanced Stats helps you understand your playing style by analyzing your performance in key areas of the game, such as openings, tactics, strategy, and endgames. It highlights your strengths, identifies areas for improvement, assigns ratings for different phases of the game, and even lets you explore every Brilliant Move you've ever played.

How do I access Advanced Stats?

To access Advanced Stats, visit your Stats page and enable the 'Advanced Stats' toggle.

Once your stats have loaded, you'll be able to explore detailed insights for each supported time control, compare your performance across different areas of the game, and view all of your Brilliant Moves in one place.

You'll notice that each time control has separate ratings for different aspects of the game: Openings, Tactics, Strategy, and Endgames. These ratings compare your performance to other players within the same rating range for that specific time control. A higher rating indicates stronger performance relative to your peers, while a lower rating may highlight an area where you can improve.

You can also select any of the time controls in the left column to open a more detailed view of your performance:

After selecting a time control, you can use the panel on the left to explore individual categories and see how you perform in different aspects of your game. Each category can be explored in greater detail to reveal more specific strengths and areas for improvement.

How are Advanced Stats calculated?

For each aspect of your game, including Openings, Tactics, Strategy, and Endgames, every stat is graded with a move classification based on how your performance compares to players of a similar rating. The stronger your performance relative to your peers, the more positive the classification will be.

To calculate your rating, we aggregate your performance across all Advanced Stats within a category (such as openings, tactics, or endgames) to create a broader picture of how you compare to players of a similar rating. The stronger your overall performance, the higher your rating will be.

Recent games have a greater impact on your Advanced Stats than older games. As you continue to play, older results gradually become less influential, helping your Advanced Stats reflect your current level of play.
