My account was hacked. How do I recover it?

Lost access to your Chess.com account? Learn how to recover it if your email, password, or username was changed without your permission.

How do I know if my account was compromised?

Your account may have been compromised if you notice activity you didn't authorize, such as:

  • Your email address, password, or username was changed without your permission.

  • You received a password reset or account change notification you didn't request.

  • You notice login activity from an unfamiliar device or location.

  • Password reset emails are being sent to an email address you don't recognize.

  • Games were played, settings were changed, or other activity appeared on your account that wasn't yours.

If you still have access to your account, secure it immediately by changing your password.
