Live chess settings
Updated today

You can find your live chess settings by going to https://www.chess.com/play/online/settings

Or, by going to Play, and clicking the settings gear icon to the right of the clock:

See below for an explanation of each settings option:

Board tab

-Choose your pieces and board color: choose from many selections of piece design and board color. You can also change your board and theme in the Board and Pieces settings section.

-Enable special themes: Choose whether you want to use temporary themes associated with certain special events.

-Decide whether you want coordinates to be on the outside of the board, inside, or disabled (none)

-Choose your piece notation style: figurine icons, or text

-Choose the animation type: How fast should the pieces movement animation be? Slow, medium(default), fast, natural or none. If you choose none, the pieces will not be shown moving across the board, but will instantly change places. You can also choose arcade, which will add flashy, colorful animations when the pieces move.

-Choose your move method: Drag pieces, or click to move. Though you can always move with either method, this option sets how the pieces will react when you click on them. If you have set it to 'drag pieces' then the piece will 'snap onto' the mouse pointer when you click it. If you choose 'click to move' then the piece will not move until you click the destination square OR until you start dragging the piece away from its home square.

-Choose whether you want to highlight the last move

-Choose whether to enable sound or not

-Sound theme: Choose what the pieces sound like when they move.

-Choose whether to show legal moves
