There are a few ways to chat in a chess stream.
If you are watching Chess TV, you will be able to chat on chess.com using your chess.com account. Just type into the panel on the right!
If you click on a stream via the ‘watch’ option, and it opens another window to Twitch, you will have to follow the stream with your twitch account, then wait 30 minutes before you are allowed to chat in the stream.
Chess.com: you can chat right away with your Chess.com account!
Twitch: You must follow the streamer with your twitch account, then wait 30 minutes!
One exception to this is the Computer Chess Championship stream, which is hosted on Chess.com but has a Twitch chat embedded.
To chat in the Computer Chess Championship stream, even though you are still on chess.com and not on Twitch, you will still have to follow the stream with your twitch account and wait 30 minutes before you are allowed to chat. These are Twitch’s rules, and can’t be avoided!
Click on the ‘follow’ heart in chat to follow with your twitch account.
If you are not logged into Twitch, or don’t have a Twitch account, you will receive the below message when you try to chat:
Clicking on ‘log in’ will take you to Twitch in a new window where you can sign in or create an account and follow the stream!
