Tablebase on Chess.com

The Tablebase is available in Analysis whenever there are seven or fewer pieces on the board.

When you're analyzing a game and the position reaches seven pieces, the 'Tablebase' tab will automatically replace the 'Explore' tab at the top of the right sidebar.

Click the Tablebase tab to see all possible moves for the current position and whether each leads to a win, loss, or draw (with optimal play).

For example, in the position above, White has no winning moves but does have moves that could lead to a loss if Black responds correctly.

You can play moves on the board as usual while using the tablebase, or simply click a move from the list to see it played on the board instantly.

If White makes a move, the tablebase updates to show Black’s options.

In the same example game, the position after White's move shows that Black also has no winning moves, but has many moves that lead to a loss. Black will have to play much more carefully than White in this position.

If Black chooses a losing move, you’ll see the outcome change immediately to a win for White, along with the best move for White to secure victory.
