Learn how to customize your course settings on Chess.com—choose how to review variations, what to study, and more!

Course settings

If you need to adjust or change some of your course's settings, you can do so by clicking into the course, clicking on the cog wheel icon at the bottom left corner of the right side panel:

This will open a pop-up window where you can customize your course settings:

Options

Details

Language

Uses the language set for the course.

Study

Choose your study option:

  • All Moves - allows you to study all moves in the variation.

  • Key Moves - allows you to skip studying all non-essential moves

Variation Review

Use the drop-down menu to select how you want to review the course variations:

  • By learned order: Follows spaced repetition cycle.

  • By course order: Follows order as set in the course.

  • Random: You are given a random variation, starting from the first move

Repetitions

Set the number of repetitions for learning new material for the first time. It is set to 1 repetition by default.

Autonext

Skips review explanation after completing a variation.

Quiz Time Limit

Set the time limit (in seconds) for solving puzzles or reviewing them.

Delete my Progress

Clicking on 'Delete' will permanently erase all your progress in the course.

This action cannot be undone, so please be sure that you want to delete your progress before proceeding!
