How do I manage my Puzzle settings?

Learn how to customize your Puzzle settings on both the Chess.com website and the mobile apps!

If you're on a Puzzle screen, you can customize your settings by clicking the cogwheel icon at the bottom left of the right sidebar.

Alternatively, click 'Settings' from the bottom-left corner of any Chess.com page. Then select 'Gameplay' from the left menu and scroll to the 'Puzzles' section to adjust your preferences.

Each setting includes a short description to help you understand its function. You can toggle the options to match your preferences.

To reset your puzzle history, scroll down to the 'Training History' section in the Gameplay settings page and click 'Reset' to start fresh.

Puzzle difficulty

You can now choose your preferred puzzle difficulty. This setting is available only on the website, but it also applies to your mobile app.

To change difficulty, go to your Puzzle settings (see instructions above) and select one of the following:

  • Standard

  • Hard

  • Extra Hard

Mobile

On the Chess.com app, tap 'More' in the bottom menu, then go to 'Settings' and select 'Puzzles.'

Alternatively, if you’re already on the Puzzle screen, tap the gear icon in the top-right corner to open your puzzle settings.

To change your puzzle difficulty, please go to Chess.com in a mobile browser or make the change from a computer. The update will automatically apply to your mobile app.
