How do I manage my Puzzle settings?

Learn how to customize your Puzzle settings on both the Chess.com website and the mobile apps!

Puzzle settings on Chess.com

Web

If you're on a Puzzle screen, you can customize your settings by clicking the cogwheel icon at the bottom left of the right sidebar.

Alternatively, click 'Settings' from the bottom-left corner of any Chess.com page. Then select 'Gameplay' from the left menu and scroll to the 'Puzzles' section to adjust your preferences.

Each setting includes a short description to help you understand its function. You can toggle the options to match your preferences.

To reset your puzzle history, scroll down to the 'Training History' section in the Gameplay settings page and click 'Reset' to start fresh.

Mobile

On the Chess.com app, tap 'More' in the bottom menu, then go to 'Settings' and select 'Puzzles.'

Alternatively, if you’re already on the Puzzle screen, tap the gear icon in the top-right corner to open your puzzle settings.

Puzzle difficulty

You can now set your preferred puzzle difficulty on both web and mobile, and your selection will sync across all devices.

To change your difficulty, open your Puzzle settings on web or mobile (see steps above) and choose one of the available options:

  • Standard

  • Hard

  • Extra Hard
