Does move order matter when looking at a position in Explorer?

Read about Chess.com’s Explorer tool and how it displays data based on the current position you are viewing.

No, the data you see in Explorer (i.e. related to typical continuations and the frequency of wins, draws, etc.) is specific to the position you are viewing, regardless of what moves you made to get there.

What matters is what happens as a result of the position you are viewing; you are looking ahead, not backward. If we showed you data for only one of several possible lines to the current position, you would be seeing information from only a fraction of the games in which that position appeared.
