I can't click on the board, help!

If you are using Windows 11, there is a bug currently where sometimes you wont be able to click on certain parts of the screen near the task bar. When playing a chess game, this part of the screen often includes the bottom of the board, where your pieces are!

How to fix this Windows 11 bug

There are currently several possibilities on how to fix this ongoing bug.

Disable MiniSearchHost

  1. This option has worked for many people. Here are the steps to do it!
  2. Open task manager
  3. Inside task manager, click on 'details'
  4. Scroll through the list of programs until you find MiniSearchHost, then right click on it.
  5. Choose 'end task' from the menu:

This should clear away the unclickable part of your screen!

Restart Windows Explorer

Another possible fix is to restart Windows Explorer.

  1. Open task manager
  2. Click on 'processes'
  3. Find 'Windows Explorer' and right click on it.
  4. Click on 'restart' (NOT end task)

Your click problems should now be resolved!

End the 'search' process

If the above options don't work, you can try ending the search process.

  1. Open task manager
  2. Click on 'processes'
  3. Find 'Search' and right click on it.
  4. In the menu that opens, click on 'end task'
