Board animations on Chess.com
To make your gaming experience more fun, we've added playful animations at the start and end of each game. Here’s a look at the different animations and what they do:
Theme Showcase Animations
This feature is a fun way to get a sense of who your opponent is, by seeing how they set their board! At the start of each new live chess game, a brief animation plays, showing their board and pieces, league division, and any flair they have.
Game Result Board Animations
At the end of a game, a glyph will appear in the top-right corner of the square where your king is, indicating the result—who won, who lost, and the final outcome.
If the 'Theme Showcase Animation' is also enabled, the losing player's board theme will briefly change to match the winning player's theme.
Win celebration
When the game ends, you'll see another animation. Win the game and you'll see confetti fall over the board to celebrate your victory!
