Board & Pieces settings

Click 'Settings' from the bottom-left corner of any Chess.com page, and you'll land on the 'Board and Pieces' settings page where you can customize the color of your board, choose your preferred piece style, and change the background. If you'd like a quicker setup, you can select from a variety of premade board and piece sets.

On this page, you can also manage how you move your pieces, choose your piece movement animations, enable or disable animations before and after games, and select the sound effects for when moves are made.

In-game screen

If you're playing or watching a game, you can customize your board and pieces by clicking the cogwheel ('Settings') icon next to your opponent's timer in the upper-right corner, just outside the board.

This will open the Settings pop-up window, which defaults to the 'Board' tab. Here you can use the dropdown menus and toggles to adjust the board color, piece style, and other preferences to your liking.
