How do I use Game Analysis on the app?

Learn how to analyze your favorite games on the Chess.com apps and make the most of this powerful tool!

Analysis

To access Analysis, tap the magnifying glass ('Analysis') icon after finishing a game or when reviewing a game you'd like to analyze.

iOS

Android

On iOS the Analysis icon will be at the top right corner of your screen.

On Android, tap 'Analyze' from the bottom menu, then select 'Self-Analysis' to access the Analysis option.

If you're on the Game Review screen, you'll find the Analysis icon in the top right corner of your screen on both the iOS and Android apps.

This will open the engine analysis of each move. You can move through them using the back and forward arrows at the bottom of your screen, on both iOS and Android. You'll also have options to run the Game Review or access the Game Explorer.

Tap 'Options' to reset the Analysis, flip the board, share the game, or continue the game against a botΒ from the selected position.

How do I manage my Analysis settings?

To customize your settings, tap the cogwheel ('Settings') icon at the top right corner of the Analysis screen. It's in the same spot on both iOS and Android.

This will open the Analysis settings pop-up, where you can toggle options to show or hide the evaluation bar, suggestion and threat arrows, engine lines move feedback, or set the engine's maximum thinking time (iOS only).

Evaluation Bar

Disable this option if you prefer not to see the evaluation bar during your analysis.

Suggestion Arrows

Enable this option to display green suggestion arrows on the board during your analysis.

Threat Arrows

Enable this option to display red threat arrows on the board during your analysis.

Engine Lines

Enable this option to display engine lines above the board during your analysis.

You can only enable this if the 'Move Feedback' option is turned off.

Move Feedback

Enable this option to display engine lines above the board during your analysis.

You can only enable this if the 'Engine Lines' option is turned off.

Engine Max Time

How long should the computer think about each position during analysis? Lower times may help conserve power but will reduce the engine's strength.

This option is only available on the Chess.com iOS app.
