How do I request an inactive username?
Updated yesterday has millions of registered accounts, and it's only growing! This means that the username you want is probably already taken. But what if the account with the username you want isn't even being used?

Now, Premium members can request inactive usernames!

What is an Inactive Username?

Inactive usernames are those that belong to accounts that have not been used for three years or more.

If the username you want belongs to an account that has been inactive for three years or more, you can now request support to give you that username.

Check how long an account has been inactive by looking at their profile. There you will see the last sign-in date:

If this date is older than 3 years, you can request support to transfer the username to you. These requests are given on a first-come-first-served basis.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible to request an inactive username, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Your account that receives the username must be a paid premium account (not on a free trial) and you must have had that premium membership for at least three months.

You may request ONE inactive username per account. Make sure it's the one you want! (If your request is denied, you may request another name.)

Submit your Request

Go to and from the Support widget select Contact support > I have a question. Type "Inactive username" in the chat box and then click on the "Inactive username request form" option at the bottom to submit your request!
