How to disable the chat on Chess.com
If you'd rather focus on the game without conversations distracting you, or if you prefer not to chat in a particular game, we've got you covered.
Disable chat in a single game
📝 This action can't be undone and will disable chat for the rest of the game.
Click on the exclamation sign in the upper right-hand corner of the chat window
Select 'Disable Chat' from the dropdown:
Disable chat for all games
If you want to disable chat for ALL of your Live or Daily games, follow these steps:
Go to 'Settings' from the menu at the bottom left of any Chess.com page
From the settings menu, choose 'Live Chess' or 'Daily Chess' depending on which chat you want to limit
Set the 'Game Chat' option to either 'Friends Only' or 'Nobody'
Click 'Save' to apply the changes.
How to disable chat on the Chess.com mobile apps
You can disable chat entirely on the apps for both Live and Daily games. Here's how:
Tap on 'More' from the menu at the bottom of the homepage
Select 'Settings' and tap 'Play'
Set the 'Allow Chat' option to 'Friends Only' or 'Never' to restrict your messages.
