How do I manage my privacy settings?

Privacy on Chess.com

Want more control over your interactions on the site? Customize your privacy settings to manage friend requests, limit challenges to specific members, and decide who can view your friends list. Follow the steps below to get started!

  • Click 'Settings' in the menu at the bottom-left corner of any page on Chess.com.

  • In the Settings menu on the left side, select 'Social', then scroll down to the 'Privacy' section:

Details

Allow friend requests

Toggle this option off to stop receiving friend requests from other members on the site.

Allow friends to find you via phone contacts

Turn on this option to let people who have your contact saved find you on Chess.com.

Allow challenges

Choose who can send you challenges:

  • Everyone

  • Friends Only

  • Nobody (Rematches will still be allowed)

Allow club

invitations

Toggle this off if you don't want to receive any club invitations

Allow tournament

invitations

Toggle this off if you don't want to receive any tournament invitations

Who can see my friend's list?

Control who can see your friends list:

  • All members

  • Only my friends

  • Nobody

Who can see my insights?

Use the drop-down menu to choose who can see your insights:

  • All Members

  • Nobody
