Resigning vs. Disconnecting

It’s rude and unsportsmanlike to just disconnect from a game (and also against our policies!), so if you no longer want to continue a game—whether due to a mistake you made or simply losing interest—it’s always better to resign.

On the right side of your game screen, you'll see the 'Resign' option above the chat. Click it, then confirm by selecting 'Yes' in the pop-up to resign.

To resign a game on the Chess.com mobile app, tap on the first option in the bottom menu:

Then select 'Resign' and confirm by tapping the checkmark on the confirmation message.
