Puzzle Battle is similar to Puzzle Rush, but with a competitive twist! Instead of solving puzzles on your own, you’re paired against another player. Your goal? Solve as many puzzles as possible within the time limit while avoiding mistakes.
How does Puzzle Battle work?
When you start a Puzzle Battle, you're matched with a player who has a similar Puzzle Battle rating. This rating is unique to Puzzle Battle and separate from your other Chess.com ratings.
Each player has 3 minutes to solve as many puzzles as possible without getting three wrong.
Both players’ scores are visible during the battle. If a player gets three puzzles wrong, they are out, but the other player can continue solving puzzles until the timer runs out.
The player with the most correct puzzles at the end of 3 minutes (or after both players make 3 mistakes) wins.
If both players have the same score when the time runs out, the player with fewer incorrect answers wins.
Season Points
You earn season points for every Puzzle Battle match you play, win or lose. The leaderboard for season points resets every month, so you can compete to climb higher every new season.
The leaderboard can be sorted by:
Points or rating
Global or friends
Season, daily, or hourly standings
How season points are earned

Subsequent wins | The points increase with each consecutive win. For example, if you're on your 20th consecutive win, you earn 20 points per correct puzzle. |
Puzzle Battle limits based on membership level
Puzzle Battle is available to all membership levels but with different daily limits:
Basic Membership: One battle per day
Gold Membership: Five battles per day
Platinum & Diamond Membership: Unlimited battles per day
