How do I use club chat on Chess.com?

Club chat

Every club on Chess.com has a built-in chat room where you can connect with fellow members. To access it, just visit your club’s homepage and click 'Live Chat' on the club banner. This will open a chat window at the bottom of your screen, where you can view the conversation history and join in.

To add an emoji, click the smiley face icon to the right of the text bar. If you’d like to see who’s currently online, click the participants icon at the top of the chat window.

Managing the club chat

If you are a club admin, you can delete chat messages and mute members to maintain a good environment for your club members.

How to delete chat messages

To delete a message in your club chat, hover over the message and click the 'X' on the right side.

Once deleted, the message will appear in red and will only be visible to admins, other members and coordinators won’t see it. If you need to bring the message back, just click the 'Restore message' icon.

How to mute a member in chat

  1. Click on the member’s username in the chat room, then select the red chat bubble icon to mute them.

  2. If you want to mute and delete all of their messages at once, click the trash can icon.

    • To send a warning instead, click the flag icon.
