Tournament points are accumulated by competing in Chess.com tournaments. If you place 1st, 2nd, 3rd, or 4th in a tournament (depending on tournament size) you will get an amount of points based on the number of rounds, group size, and average rating of all the players.
To see your tournament points, go to the tournaments home page, and look on the right sidebar where all your stats are listed!
If you get enough tournament points you can see yourself on the tournament leaderboard!
The leaderboard shows the most recent year by default, but you can click the drop-down and select previous years, or ‘all time’ to rank by total points in all years combined.

There are four factors we look at that affect how many points a player gets in a tournament.
A multiplier based on your final place finish (P)
Projected number of rounds (R)
Maximum group size (G)
Average rating of all players in the tournament (S)
The Formula: 10 * (P * (1.5R) * G * (S/1000))
How to calculate "P"

T= Total Players
p= Place Finish (p must be less than or equal to 1/2 of T to earn points)
"R" is calculated as (G/A)^X = T, solve for X.
A = number of players who advance per group.
