How do I join the Beta?
Updated this week

If you want to test out new features before they are released, join the Beta and help us out! The only requirements are that your account be at least 30 days old, and you must comment on or create at least one forum post or blog.

If you meet those requirements, then there are just a few easy steps to join:

  1. From anywhere on chess.com, hover over ‘settings’ in the bottom left of the screen, then choose ‘all settings’

  2. This will take you to your account settings. From near the bottom of the list, click on ‘beta’

  1. Click ‘join beta’ on the next screen!

  2. Next, join the Beta club here: https://www.chess.com/club/chess-com-beta

  3. Once you have joined the club, you will be able to comment about any bugs or issues you experience in the Beta. Also be sure to report any bugs or issues you encounter! (on the bottom left of the screen hover over ‘help’ and choose ‘report a bug’

NOTE: The Beta has limited space. If it is full, you will not be have the option to join. Check back later to see if there is more space!

Join the Android Beta

First, open up the Google play store, and find the Chess.com app. Do not open the Chess.com app, instead, find the app in the Google play store as if you were going to install it.

Then, scroll down to the very bottom, past the reviews, and below the developer contact:

Tap on 'Join' and you will be asked if you are sure:

Tap 'Join' again, and you'll see that you are now being added to the Beta!

After about 5 minutes, an update will install, and you will then be on the beta version of the Android app.

How to leave

If you ever decide you want to leave the Beta, you can always return to this same screen and tap 'Leave'

After tapping 'Leave' it will take about 5 minutes, then you will be removed from the beta, and will no longer receive beta updates. Be sure to reinstall the app to remove any beta updates that were installed and return to the normal version of the app!
